Volkmann offers a comprehensive range of pneumatic vacuum conveyors, bulk bag unloaders, rip and tip stations, hoists, delumpers, dust collection systems, and weighing and dosing systems. These systems collectively provide a fully contained powder handling solution for the safe transfer of fine chemicals, granules, pellets, tablets, and small components. Specifically designed for dust-tight, segregation-free, and damage-free dense phase powder transport under vacuum, Volkmann systems are equipped with features such as "No-Tools" disassembly for easy cleaning, cGMP-compliant designs, air-driven Multijector® vacuum generation, and ATEX certification for explosion-proof applications. These attributes contribute to Volkmann's status as the industry leader in powder and granule vacuum conveyor solutions.
Vacuum Conveyors with Inerting function: Volkmann INEX. Volkmann INEX Vacuum Conveyors provide safe loading of bulk materials into hazardous areas, particular in the Chemical and Pharma Industries, where the loading of powders into reactors and stirring vessels is required. INEX systems can be used inside all gas explosion and dust explosion zones.
Initially material is sucked into the separator of the INEX system. Before the material is discharged, the transportation line is closed and the INEX system is set under vacuum. Then, the material inside the INEX system is aerated with inert gas (for example Nitrogen) from the bottom and then released through the systems discharge valve. The concentration of Oxygen during discharge typically is below 7% or limited to such a value to not compromise the inert feed of the system.
For the conveying of hybrid mixtures, where the transfer of powders containing solvents, the entire vacuum transportation process with an INEX Vacuum Conveying system takes place under inert atmosphere.
Volkmann bulk material discharge systems either tilt and empty the barrels into a pick-up hopper or use an automatic guided suction lance. Alternatively, feeding with a lance can be done manually. The system can take material from barrels with liners or directly from bags thanks to a special secondary/feeding air entrainment. Our systems carry material from the barrel in an exceptionally gentle manner, and they perform well with sensitive and easily damaged fragile tablets.
The system monitors and regulates the suction air flow to avoid excess pressure action on sensitive bulk goods, which can occur with tipping systems. These designs allow for the discharge of material from drums with liners under full containment to work in a closed system under controlled environmental conditions.
VOLKMANN rotary valves are characterized by their hygienic design, they are easy to disassemble for cleaning, and safe when in operation. They are designed and manufactured by VOLKMANN.
With the conveying and handling of chemicals, there are a lot of different requirements to meet. Volkmann Vacuum Conveyors transport and feed all sorts of powder, granulated material, dust, pellets, fibres etc.
Vacuum conveyors meet typical pharmaceutical industry requirements (e.g., FDA, cGMP, WIP, CIP). They move materials in a sanitary and emission-free environment. The systems are modest in comparison to the transfer rates obtained and quite easy to install. In most pharmaceutical applications, vacuum conveyors are the preferred choice for powder transfer.
Volkmann vacuum conveyors and material handling solutions are used to feed and transfer materials to and from processes such as bin refilling, initial weighing, mixing, screening, granulating, compacting, and compressing. Due to dense phase conveying, mixtures can be transported without segregation, for example, to feed materials into filling machines. The systems can also be utilised to successfully transfer capsules, dragees, and tablets.
All industries deal with powders and crushers. Conveyor technology is becoming more important as a result of automation and refining of manufacturing processes. Transferring and transporting powder "by hand" was once acceptable, however this is no longer the case. Previously, leaky, failure-prone, and difficult-to-clean screw conveyors were allowed; today, safe and efficient conveying solutions are sought. As a result, Volkmann vacuum conveyors are progressively replacing unreliable mechanical conveyors. The conveying process should be seamlessly integrated into the process chain. Because the objects to be carried are not manually squished, pulverised, or heated, unwanted "stress" on them can be avoided with vacuum conveying.
The high possible vacuum of the Multijector jet pumps allows dilute phase and plug conveying and provides particularly gentle transfer of material in the conveyor and pipe. This versatility is an outstanding feature, vacuum conveyors are to be found both in waste management (e.g. waste to fuel) and also in the nuclear industry (e.g. in the production of fuel elements). Vacuum conveyors and vacuum pumps from Volkmann are even used in the battery and semiconductor production and on submarines
Small size standardised models help to keep your production areas dry and clean. Use our Liquid-Conveyors for the easy and reliable suction and disposal of various liquids like oil or emulsion and even greasy substances. Our units can filter the liquids directly into collector tanks, bags, barrels, and production machines. Even metal chips from milling can be conveyed and won’t cause wear to our units.
Standard applications:
Liquid Suction hights up to 9 m (depending on density and viscosity). Capacity 0,1 – 200 m3/h.
Volkmann docking and discharge stations provide a quick exchange and dust-free join between frequently exchanged IBCs and other process equipment:

Continuous feeding of bulk materials, accurate to the gram. The VOLKMANN vibrating feeder can be used in a variety of ways and, in combination with a vacuum conveying system and a level indicator control, is ideal for the automation of feeding processes.
The open vibrating chute or the closed sanitary dosing tube is recommended depending on the application; both systems are simple to clean. Various forms of weighing can be implemented in conjunction with a vacuum conveyor and a material buffer. Negative weighing or dosing with a vibrating chute is one example. Depending on the substance, an accuracy of up to 1g each cycle is possible. A discontinuous feeding method can also be converted to a continuous feeding procedure. With a capacity of up to 1000 kg/h. More information is available in our booklet.
